Back to School Letter 2017 (For Grades 10-12)

July 2017

Welcome to the 2017-2018 school year! We hope you are enjoying your summer months. In preparation for the start of the school year, we are providing information that will need your attention in the upcoming weeks.

  • Parking Permits
  • Pictures
  • Planners
  • Class Schedules
  • Book Pick-Up
  • Senior Transcripts

Parking Permits: If you intend to park on campus, you must purchase a WHS parking permit for the 2017-18 school year. Please read carefully through the Woodbury High School Parking Rules, which are posted under the About Us > School Policies & Handbooks. A permit for either the priority parking lot or the general parking lot can be purchased for $120. Permits for each lot will be sold on a first-come, first-served basis. Each permit is valid for the entire 2017-18 school year. Students must bring their completed application form with the agreement signed by both student and parent, along with a valid driver’s license and the appropriate fee. Permits will be on sale on the following days in the Accounts Office:

  • Tuesday, August 22 from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
  • Wednesday, August 23 from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

Parking information will remain posted on the school website throughout the school year for any student who wishes to purchase a permit once school has begun.

Pictures: Lifetouch National Studios will be taking pictures of sophomores and juniors on:

  • Tuesday, August 22 from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
  • Wednesday, August 23 from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

You may visit for clothing suggestions, online payment details and more. Please bring your money and your money and order form to Woodbury High School if you wish to purchase pictures. All sophomores and juniors will need to have their picture taken on one of these days in order for their 2017-18 WHS student ID to be generated. An additional make-up picture day is scheduled on Tuesday, October 3, 2017 for any student unable to have their picture taken during the summer. Seniors may have their pictures taken on these dates as well but do not need to have their picture taken as student IDs for seniors will be issued using a picture on record from their junior year. Student IDs for seniors can be picked up on one of the parking days or on the first day of school. Information about senior picture requirements for the yearbook are under Activities > Yearbook.

Planners: Student planners will be available to purchase for $5 on the dates listed above. During the school year, planners will be available in the Accounts Office from Ms. Robb Trebesch.

Class Schedules: Beginning August 7, 2017 parents and students may access their Woodbury High School Student's 2017-18 class schedule by logging on to the Parent Portal. Please be aware that we continue to work on the school's Master Schedule throughout the summer, and while your student's class selections won't change, the class period and teacher could change as we balance class sizes.  Once you are able to view your schedule, please look for the following details:

  • Check for a complete schedule; 18 courses, 6 each trimester.
  • Check that you have the required courses for your grade level in English and Social Studies.
  • Check that you are not repeating a course you have already taken and passed.
  • Note that a 3 trimester class (i.e. English, Social Studies, Science, Math) may or may not change class periods from trimester to trimester. We attempt to keep students with the same teacher for our core content areas but it is not always possible due to schedule constraints and/or student elective course selections.

If you must make an adjustment to your schedule due to a problem that meets the above criteria, school counselors will be available in August by appointment only. The links to schedule an appointment with your counselor will be available on the WHS homepage beginning August 7.

Book Pick-Up: A recent addition to our summer back-to-school procedures includes picking up text books. Students should bring their class schedule to the Media Center to check out any needed text books for the year on one of the following days:

  • Tuesday, August 22 from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
  • Wednesday, August 23 from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

We are hopeful this additional opportunity to pick up books in the summer will reduce time out of class during the first weeks of school for our students.

Transcripts: We will be assisting Seniors only in ordering their Official Transcripts through Naviance. Seniors can pay a fee of $15.00 for unlimited transcripts to colleges for the 2017-18 school year. Checks should be made payable to Woodbury High School. Students on Free or Reduced lunch may send their college transcripts electronically for free. However, they need to bring a copy of the letter from Nutrition Services documenting their free and reduced status to the counseling office in order to receive this service for free. If a student pays for this service and is later placed on free or reduced lunch status, refunds cannot be made. Seniors can pay for this service on August 22 and 23 from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. in the Lecture Hall Commons at the same time that they purchase their parking permits. Once school begins in September, counselors will give presentations in senior classrooms to review the college application process, including how to order transcripts.

We are looking forward to having you back in the building soon!
