Class of 2019--Starting Your Senior Year

Senior ID Cards (2018-19)

  • Senior ID cards are made using your junior picture. Seniors can pick up their student ID card on August 21-22 or September 5.
  • If you are new to WHS, you must have your picture taken on one of the dates below.
    • Lifetouch Student Picture Day (August 21-22, 2018 from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.)

Senior Yearbook Photos

  • Seniors may have yearbook photos taken by their own photographer.
  • Guidelines for senior yearbook photos are on the Yearbook page (Activities Menu).
  • Seniors may choose to have Lifetouch take their yearbook photo.

Senior Parking Permits

Seniors get first-dibs on parking permits for the priority lot when permit sales begin August 21 & 22, 2018.
Full details are available on the Parking at WHS webpage.

WHS allows seniors to eat lunch outside at the lunch tables at the South Entrance. Seniors must throw away all lunch trash before re-entering the building. Seniors are allowed to leave campus during their lunch period. Seniors must show their student ID to leave the building for lunch. If you don’t have your student ID when asked by security, you will not be allowed to leave the building. If you have not picked up your ID, please stop in the Attendance Office.

Senior Panoramic Photo 

WHS has a tradition of taking a panoramic photo of the entire senior class! Next time you visit WHS, take a look at the seniors from previous classes. The photos are located on the wall by the principal's office.

  • Details on how to purchase a senior panoramic photo will be announced via the WHS Listserv.
  • Pick up your panoramic photo purchase in the attendance office.

Senior's Community Service Requirement

Senior Service Day & Picnic (Thurs. May 30)

WHS has a strong service tradition. Seniors are required to participate in a service project UNLESS they are making up missed school work and are in a class. This is an official school day for seniors!

  • Sign-up for a service project on TBA. If you miss sign-ups for a Senior Service Day project, go to the Attendance Office or see Mr. Nunn, room 263.
  • Order a Senior Service Day t-shirt: T-shirts are $10 dollars and must be ordered by May 3. Proceeds pay for the senior picnic at Ojibway Park following Senior Service Day work.
  • Senior Service Day is Thursday, May 30. Service projects run from 8:30 a.m to noon. You must report to Ojibway Park at noon for a picnic lunch; attendance is taken at the picnic. Senior Service Day is an official school day--you must perform community service or be in class on Senior Service Day.
  • Chaperones are needed for Senior Service Project Day. Please email Mr. Nunn or call 651.425.4437 if you can volunteer to chaperone for Service Day. Thanks!


Mandatory Commencement Practice (Fri., May 31 @ 9:00 a.m.)

  • All seniors participating in the Commencement Ceremony must report to the Activities Center for practice.
  • Graduation practice is mandatory!
  • Be on time.
  • Practice takes approximately 1-1/2 hours.
  • You will receive your tickets for graduation at graduation practice

Cap & Gown Distribution (Wednesday, May 29)

Wednesday, May 29: During School Hours

  • Graduation Fee: $30
  • Honors Sash Fee (if applicable): $25.00 -- refundable if sash is returned by June 8.
  • NOTE: Seniors must return all books & pay all fines prior to receiving their caps and gowns!

The district pays for caps and gowns. Seniors pay $30.00 towards graduation for Aldrich Arena's rental fee, flowers, programs, medals, etc. The fee is due when you pick-up your cap and gown. Contact Ms. Burch (651.425.4409) with questions. The graduation cap & gown are yours to keep.

Honor Sashes: Honor sashes will be provided for all honor students with a deposit of $25.00 due on cap & gown distribution day. Sashes must be returned to the Principal's Office by Friday, June 7, in order to have your deposit returned. Remember, the cap & gown is yours to keep!

Graduation vs. Commencement

Graduation refers to the term in which you have officially and successfully completed all of your graduation requirements.
Commencement is the ceremony of granting diplomas at the end of the academic year.

Graduation Recognition

Graduation recognition is based on students’ GPA after Trimester 2 of senior year. Students are recognized by colored sashes and identified by asterisks in the program.

  • Summa Cum Laude with Distinction:  GPA of 4.3 and above, gold sash, honors medallion, denoted by 4 asterisks in program
  • Summa Cum Laude:  GPA of 4.0-4.299, gold sash, denoted by 3 asterisks (***) in program
  • Magna Cum Laude:  GPA of 3.667-3.999, silver sash, denoted by 2 asterisks in program
  • Cum Laude:  GPA of 3.5-3.666, white sash, denoted by 1 asterisk in program
  • NHS Members: gold tassel

Graduation Speakers: A student who has achieved Summa Cum Laude with Distinction and two additional student speakers, who are elected by the senior class, will speak during Commencement.

  • Each senior receives 7 tickets at graduation practice (due to seating limitations)
  • Anyone requiring Handicap Seating or sign language interpreting should contact Lynne Blass (651.425.4407) to make arrangements.
  • Seniors MUST report to the arena's west ramp by 5:00 p.m.
  • Guests enter from the east entrance.
  • Doors open at 5:00 p.m. promptly and tickets are collected.
  • Each family receives one graduation program (due to cost).
  • Guests should arrive early for parking and seating.

IMPORTANT Graduation Parking Notice

Dear Principals, High School Staff, Parents and Students,

  We are excited to host your graduation at Aldrich Arena and wish you all the best of luck.

  To avoid potential problems, we want to remind you that students, parents, and school staff should try to carpool as much as possible. Parking is limited to the areas marked in green on the map. Parking in parking lots of neighboring businesses is prohibited and could result in having your vehicle towed.

Conduct at Commencement

Commencement is considered the most formal and public of our educational ceremonies. Our seniors are celebrating the successful completion of 12 years of formal education. Having family and friends attend the ceremony honors this achievement. We ask all who attend commencement to abide by the following guidelines.

  • The Commencement ceremony will be conducted with appropriate dignity and decorum. Do not bring air horns, loud noise makers, or fireworks to the ceremony. Do not clap, yell, or make other noise when your student's name is called as it prevents the name of the following student from being heard.
  • Please be considerate of those around you, as Commencement is a meaningful occasion to all guests in attendance. All family members and guests are asked to remain seated during the entire ceremony.

  • The use of alcoholic beverages or drugs and participation in disruptive activities during the ceremony is prohibited and will be handled accordingly. Students believed to have used these substances prior to the ceremony will not be permitted to participate in commencement.

Graduation Photos

Commencement attendees are asked to REMAIN SEATED during the ceremony. You may take photographs from your seat while sitting, and before or after the ceremony. We have contracted with Lifetouch to take professional photographs of each graduate during commencement. View the LifeTouch flyer.

Additional Senior Year Celebrations

Senior Awards Program (Tues., May 28 @ 7:00 p.m.)
Woodbury High School Auditorium

We honor seniors for their accomplishments at Woodbury High School and showcase their post-high school plans. Students who will attend are asked to provide information about their post secondary plans, including college, vocational school, or military service. This event includes a senior slide show, which will be presented by senior class representatives. Students receiving awards will be notified by mail.

  • You will receive an order form with full color proofs of photos taken of your graduate. Each graduate was photographed onstage during the handshake when their name was called, with the diploma in hand, and in a close up after descending from the stage. Senior Meal Account Balance

Parents must review their senior's meal account balance to determine what to do with any funds that remain in their student's account after graduation. Remember to remove any automatic PayPam's payments. Check your student's balance through Nutrition Services.

Graduation Requirements

District 833 requires students to complete required courses and credits in order to receive a diploma. Details about our district's graduation requirements are published in the high school Program of Studies (under the Students menu).

Final Transcript

Seniors, order your final transcript by logging on to Naviance to place your order. View the order instructions on the CCC webpage. All colleges will accept the submission of your final transcript, which can be ordered in May. Your transcript will be sent to the college you request at the end of June.

  • Class Rank Reporting on Transcripts
  • Class rank is not included on transcripts unless omitting a student's class rank puts the student at a disadvantage with other college admission applicants.
  • Prior to the 2013-14 school year, each of the District's 3 high schools struggled with class rank and the role it played in college admission; the average grade is a B+, which caused highly successful students to rank in the lower half of their graduating class. All three high schools felt it was time for a change in how student performance is reported to colleges & universities. Read more information on Class Rank.

Senior All Night Party
Sun., June 2, 9:30 p.m. to Mon., June 3, 5:00 a.m.

The Senior All Night Party is an independent event that is planned and run by the parents of WHS students.
Staff from Woodbury High School are not responsible for this event.

  • Attention all Senior and Junior Parents: Monthly meetings happen now through June for committee members to plan the 2019 Senior Class Party. This party is designed to give the 2019 graduating class a chance to celebrate with classmates one final time at the High School. To make this a great event we need a lot of volunteers doing large and small tasks. If you are a parent of a junior or senior student, both moms and dads, we need as many of you as possible to volunteer in the planning and implementing  of this party.

How to Order

  • Download and complete the Order Form.
  • Have your student drop-off the order form including payment in the Principal's Office.

Picking up Your Order

  • You will be notified by email when to pick up your completed banner in the Principal's Office.
  • The Principal's Office is open Monday-Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

Details to Know

  • WHS graduation banner orders require a minimum of 4 business days to process.
  • WHS Royal Graphics will send you a banner proof for your approval before printing, which is why we ask for your email.
  • Class of 2019 banner orders will be accepted through Wednesday, June 12, 2019.
