"Royal Readiness" All School Testing Day

October 25, 2017

On October 25, students in grades 9-11 will report to their advisor at the beginning of the day. Your advisory most likely will NOT be held in your usual room. Room assignments for October 25 will be posted by advisor in the hallways starting Monday, October 23. Please check this room assignment list before testing day on the 25th!

  • Grade 9: Students will attend a presentation before lunch and a Character Challenge retreat in the afternoon.
  • Grade 10: Pre-ACT test or PSAT
    • Pre-ACT Testing Rationale: Students will experience a timed, standardized test and receive predictive ACT scores in Math, English, Reading, and Science.
    • PSAT Testing Rationale: Qualifying test for National Merit Scholarships.
  • Grade 11: ACT practice test or PSAT
    • Practice ACT Testing Rationale: Students will experience a timed, standardized test and receive predictive ACT scores in Math, English, Reading, and Science.
    • PSAT Testing Rationale: Qualifying test for National Merit Scholarships.
  • Grade 12: Students may use this day to visit colleges, prepare application materials for post secondary options, or research schools of their choice.  Any senior who would prefer to be in school will be enrolled in a monitored study hall.
  • NOTES: Students 9-12 will NOT be allowed to go to their locker after 8:35 a.m. until the end of the day. Make sure all you need is with you, including your lunch, pencil, and calculator.
    • The PreACT and the Practice ACT tests will give sophomores and juniors an opportunity to practice a timed test and they will predict your performance on the ACT test that all juniors take in spring.
    • Students in grades 10-11, following testing, will be in their advisories.
    • Students in grades 10 & 11 should remember to bring their #2 pencil and a calculator!  

ACT Score Back Night

November 20, 2017 in WHS Lecture Hall (South Entrance)
For Grade 11 Students & Parents

  • 6:30-7:00 p.m. Pick-up test results from practice ACT.
  • 7:00-8:00 p.m. Attend presentation to better understand test results and learn how to improve test scores.

MCA Testing

April 3-6, 2018

  • 10th grade MCA Reading Test:  Scheduled through English 10.
    • Testing Rationale: Measure reading proficiency against state standards;
      Reading college and career readiness score correlates to college entrance standardizes tests;
      Meet federal & state accountability requirements.

April 16-18, 2018

  • 11th grade math: Scheduled through U.S. History/AP U.S. History
    11th graders not in one of these classes will be assigned a test time
    • Testing Rationale: Measure Math proficiency against state standards,
      Correlate college & career readiness score to college entrance standardized test,
      Meet federal & state accountability requirements.

May 2-4, 2018

  • High School Science: Scheduled through biology class (students take the science test the year they are enrolled in biology)
    • Testing Rationale: Measure science proficiency against state standards,

2018 ACT+Writing (Juniors)

April 12, 2018

  • Students will complete ACT registration on paper.
  • This pre-registration is MANDATORY and must be completed prior to test day.

April 24, 2018

Minnesota legislation requires districts to offer the ACT + Writing test to all juniors during the school day in the spring of their junior year at no cost to families. Districts request reimbursement from the Minnesota Department of Education. The ACT scores will be part of the student’s official ACT record and can be provided to colleges at no cost.

ACT+Writing Test Day Activities for Freshman, Sophomores, and Seniors

To meet ACT test administration rules, testing our juniors will require building-wide use of WHS. Students in grades 9, 10, and 12 will not report to school on April 24, 2018. These students are expected to work on academics from home. View the District 833 information announcement regarding this day.
