2022-23 Calendar Approved by the School Board

The school board approved the 2022-23 school calendar during its regular business meeting on Thursday, Jan. 20. You can now view the calendar on

Last fall, South Washington County Schools (SoWashCo Schools) conducted a survey of families, staff and students (grades 6-12) about their ideal school-year calendar. The input helped inform the new calendar by moving the first day of school after Labor Day, and limiting flexible learning days to three dates in which students previously had no school. On flexible learning days, students will learn from home and connect and interact with their teacher and classmates.

In addition to the district wide survey, the calendar steering committee consulted with, and gathered feedback from, union leadership, school leaders (principals and supervisors), instructional directors, operational directors, athletics and activity directors and the District Ambassador Committee.

A school-year calendar requires 165 days of instruction for students in grades 1-11 and 183 teacher working days. Future school-year calendars are expected to be approved in January of each year.
