COVID-19 Quarantine and Isolation Adjustments for Students

COVID-19 Quarantine and Isolation Adjustments for Students

South Washington County Schools (SoWashCo Schools) will implement new guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) for quarantine and isolation, effective today.

The CDC and Minnesota Department of Health recently shortened its quarantine recommendation to five days for individuals who are exposed to COVID-19. The new guidance also shortens the isolation period for 1) individuals who test positive for COVID-19; and 2) individuals who were exposed and are showing symptoms of COVID-19.

These changes have specific criteria that must be met to meet the guidelines for shortened quarantine and isolation periods. Families will continue to receive communication for a specific exposure or recommendation to quarantine. Please closely review the new guidance below.

If you are notified that your child was exposed to COVID-19:

If your child tests positive for COVID-19 or is experiencing COVID-19 symptoms:

SoWashCo Schools will continue to closely follow case rates in our schools and will make adjustments based on our criteria of decision-making. If your child is currently in quarantine or isolation, and you believe they qualify for a shortened period to return to school, please contact your school’s health office for next steps.

Please continue to follow health and safety measures when out in the community to help make sure our schools stay open. Thank you for your partnership and support of SoWashCo Schools.
