2020 ACT+Writing (Seniors)

October 6, 2020

  • Rescheduled from April 7, 2020
  • ACT Advisory--Preregistration, DETAILS TO BE PUBLISHED
  • Pre-registration is MANDATORY and must be completed prior to test day.
  • Preparing for the ACT Test 2020-21

The Minnesota legislation requires districts to offer the ACT + Writing test to juniors during the school day in the spring of their junior year at no cost to families. The ACT scores will be part of the student’s official ACT record and can be provided to colleges at no cost.

Pre-ACT Testing 

October 14, 2020

  • Grade 10: Pre-ACT test or PSAT
    • Pre-ACT Testing Rationale: Students will experience a timed, standardized test and receive predictive ACT scores in Math, English, Reading, and Science.

MCA Testing

April 12-16, 2021

  • 10th grade MCA Reading Test: Scheduled through English 10.
    • Testing Rationale: Measure reading proficiency against state standards;
      Reading college and career readiness score correlates to college entrance standardizes tests;
      Meet federal & state accountability requirements.

April 19-23, 2021

  • 11th grade math: Scheduled through U.S. History/AP U.S. History
    11th graders not in one of these classes will be assigned a test time
    • Testing Rationale: Measure Math proficiency against state standards,
      Correlate college & career readiness score to college entrance standardized test,
      Meet federal & state accountability requirements.

April 16-30, 2021

  • High School Science: Scheduled through biology class (students take the science test the year they are enrolled in biology)

ACCESS

The ACCESS for ELLs and Alternate ACCESS for ELLs are English language proficiency assessments used to meet federal and state legislative requirements. These assessments are used to monitor English learners' progress as they develop academic language skills in reading, writing, listening, and speaking. All English learners in grades K-12 in public schools are required to participate annually in an English language proficiency assessment.

MTAS 

The Minnesota Test of Academic Skills (MTAS) is an alternate assessment based on alternate achievement standards for students with the most significant cognitive disabilities. It is part of the Minnesota assessment program. The MTAS measures reading, mathematics, and science skills that are linked to the general education curriculum. These skills represent high expectations for students with significant cognitive disabilities, but tasks to measure these skills are considerably less difficult than the items on the Minnesota Comprehensive Assessments (MCA)

March 29-April 9, 2021

ACT+Writing Test Day Activities for Freshman, Sophomores, and Seniors

To meet ACT test administration rules, testing our juniors will require building-wide use of WHS. Students in grades 9, 10, and 12 will not report to school on April 13, 2021. These students are expected to work on academics from home. View the District 833 information announcement regarding this day.
